Annual Safety Culture Survey

V. is committed to running an annual Safety Culture Survey, conducted on our behalf by a dedicated eternal team of occupational psychologists at The OPC.

The survey is open to every V. colleague, ashore and afloat, and is completed anonymously with all response data handled exclusively by The OPC team, assuring colleagues of a truly open and transparent process whereby they can offer their thoughts, feedback, concerns, and ideas on how to further grow our safety culture.

The outcomes of the survey are subsequently reported back to V. Group HSSEQ, in order that relevant actions and campaigns can be developed, and communicated back to the business, to maintain continuous and transparent progress against this key program.

The OPC

HSSEQ Excellence Committee

Our HSSEQ Excellence Committee meets every quarter, and is hosted in an open forum style which allows any V. colleague the opportunity to dial-in - or attend in person, where Committee sessions are hosted in dedicated offices.

Through the Committee, V. provides updates and progress reports against the various initiatives and campaigns that are currently underway to support HSSEQ Excellence, and also provides significant time for an open 'Q&A' session at the end of each meeting, offering an avenue for colleagues to provide feedback, critique, and ideas to senior V. leaders who are shaping such programs and policy.

Regular updates and communications

V. provides regular updates and communications, focussed on HSSEQ topics, in multiple formal and informal channels throughout the business, and actively encourages all colleagues to do the same.

Not only does this increase the reach our of HSSEQ information, but it fundamentally reinforces our 'Open Door' approach to discussing HSSEQ regularly and transparently;

  • Safety Moments and HSSEQ Performance updates at Town Hall sessions and All Colleague calls.
  • Posts on the 'All Company' and 'HSSEQ Excellence' channels on the Viva platform.
  • Weekly 'HSSEQ Thoughts' and HSSEQ Updates, to provoke awareness and reflection on recent events.
  • regular updates to information, reports, and data via the dedicated HSSEQ SharePoint site.

Conferences and Workshops

Throughout the year, V. hosts and facilitates multiple workshops and conferences, globally, with these events being open to V. colleagues of all ranks, role, and function.

HSSEQ is a fundamental component at all such events, and with active discussion and participation from our colleagues, V. utilises these events to reinforce all of our 5 key values of HSSEQ Excellence - Vision, Accountability, Collaboration, Action, and Communication.

All colleagues are therefore encouraged to get involved, actively participate in, and contribute to discussions at forums including;

  • Town Hall sessions, hosted by local MDs and management teams, or by visiting Executive Team members.
  • HSSEQ Excellence Committee meetings and supporting Q&A sessions.
  • Seafarer Conferences and Senior Officer Leadership Program sessions, hosted globally.
  • Fleet Manager Workshops, and similar function-focused ad-hoc conferences
  • All Colleague calls, with Executive Members providing regular Group, HSSEQ, Functional, and strategic updates.
